PEÑÍSCOLA, "THE CITY IN THE SEA"
The city of Peñíscola is today one of the most important tourist destinations in the Spanish Mediterranean.
It is located 150 km from Valencia and 200 km from Barcelona, perfectly connected by road on the AP-7 motorway and the N-340 national road, and by plane with the airports of Reus, Valencia, Barcelona and Castellón.
The Castle, built by the Templars in the 13th century and home to Benedict XIII, “Papa Luna”, is one of the biggest attractions for all visitors who come to this city with its strong seafaring tradition.
Its privileged location, next to the Sierra de Irta mountains and the Maestrazgo region, gives you the chance to take one of the countless routes and paths that lead to different cities and towns, discovering the monuments, gastronomy and culture of "Baix Maestrat".
It is so close to important cities such as Valencia, Barcelona or Tarragona, to Port Aventura in Salou (90km), to the Ebro Delta (45km), to the Sant Jordi Golf Course (15km), or to the Underground River of Vall d ' Uixó (80km) and this along with its mild climate, quality seawater and magnificent beaches, make Peñíscola a wonderful choice at any time of year.
